It comes with one either way."Īll that said I'm probably going to pre-order this because I have the discs still but I don't to bother emulating it, and I'll just cross my fingers that someone will fix their frustrating work like usual. People are like "I want Chrono Trigger on PC." "I want Chrono Cross on PC." and Square Enix goes Alt-tabbing is crucial to playing any MMO, especially one where you have to wait for specific rare/quest mobs to spawn or other players or whatever. It was also locked to 720p, had literally no graphics options, didn't even run at 60 fps, and more.įF11 okay mostly it was fine but you couldn't alt tab - it would break the game. I've never tried that one offline tbh.įF13, 13-2 and Lightning Returns all had their own special crappy performance issues, or like the fact that FF13 forced you to download both the ENG and JAP audio versions of the cutscenes to waste your space. It has a splash launcher and includes all the digital content the original PS3 release of HD did, other than the art book (unless I'm missing something) but I think it at least isn't online required. Although they did put some effort into replacing the touch UI with a half-decent real UI.įF7 and 8 too (pretty sure) both have that cloud /always online DRM thing.įFX/X-2 HD might be the only solid port they've done in the past 10 years although I don't have FF12 on PC so that one might also be fine. Which would be fine if they weren't blatantly ugly mobilized versions of the originals.Ĭhrono Trigger was a port of the iOS/Android version but somehow had issues the mobile version didn't like the messed up world map tiling and just overall it was an awful downgrade. Splash launcher with always-online DRM check AI translation of "original script" that significantly changes concepts of the story but is "the correct translation" Poor scaling from 4:3 to 16:9 that fucks up the graphics Here's your Square Enix PC port Bingo card: They are 150% guaranteed to fuck this straight up. ![]() What players choose to do with that information is up to them.Yea. As a preservation project, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is all but necessary. As a gaming experience absent its new bells and whistles, Chrono Cross remains a stunning title that still captivates as a JRPG over two decades since its release, while The Radical Dreamers remains an oddball text adventure that few but the most dedicated lore enthusiasts will find appealing. As a remaster, it falls short of the high bar some other projects over the last few years have managed to meet.
